Being academically trained, Kasun has evolved from traditional portraiture and still life to a more loose and free expression using bright colors and contemporary methods and subjects.
"For almost 3 decades, I have been drawing and painting and honing a unique visual language that I hope transcends time and space. I believe all painting should be melodical, and regardless of the subject matter, I want the viewer to "feel and hear" the "song" in the painting.
Stephen Kasun is a full time artist who lives and works in downtown Savannah, GA. He paints exclusively with palette knives and thick impastoed paint, creating impressionistic works based on Savannah and the Lowcountry.
Being academically trained, Kasun has evolved from traditional portraiture and still life to a more loose and free expression using contemporary methods and subjects. Considering himself an Impressionist, he captures on site images through sketching and photography which he translates into paint.

Stephen Kasun was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1975 and received his art education from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, University of Cincinnati, and Memphis College of Art. Besides his own art galleries, he is represented by Chasen Galleries in Richmond, VA; and RDZ Fine Art in Miami, FL. He has had 2 books of his work published by Book Art Press and Art BookBindery; His work has been featured in such publications as American Art Collector Magazine, American Artist Magazine, Maxtalk Magazine, Encyclopedia of Living Artists, and New Art International. He is in hundreds of public and private collections, and has done many commissioned paintings, including a large scale project for the Omni Hotel Corp. and Bluegreen Suites.
